Possible Causes
Open broil element (electric), failed broil igniter (gas), defective broil relay on EOC, broken wiring to broil assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and shut off gas (for gas models) before servicing.
- Electric models: Inspect the broil element at the top of the oven for breaks or burns. Test for continuity with a multimeter and replace if open. Check wiring and terminals for heat damage.
- Gas models: Observe the broil igniter when broil is selected. If it does not glow, test for continuity and replace if open. If it glows but the burner does not light, the igniter may be weak and should be replaced.
- Control and wiring: If elements/igniters test good, verify wiring from the EOC to the broil circuit. A failed broil relay on the control board will require EOC replacement.
Because broil operates at high temperatures, ensure all connections are secure and rated for high heat.
