Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker or unplug the range before removing any panels. High voltage is present even when the oven is off.
- Power reset: Turn the breaker off for 5 minutes, then restore power. If F1 returns immediately, the fault is likely in the keypad or control board.
- Inspect keypad: Check the front control panel for signs of liquid spills, steam damage, or physical cracks. If the keypad is a separate part from the control board, disconnect the keypad ribbon cable from the EOC and restore power briefly. If the F1 code disappears with the keypad unplugged, replace the touchpad/keypad assembly.
- Check ribbon cable: Inspect the flat ribbon cable for corrosion, burnt spots, or kinks. Reseat the connector firmly. If damage is visible, replace the keypad assembly.
- Replace EOC if needed: If F1 persists even with the keypad disconnected, the electronic oven control board is likely defective and should be replaced. Transfer wires one at a time from the old board to the new one to avoid miswiring.
If you are not comfortable working around live wiring or removing the control panel, contact a qualified technician.
