Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing any internal components. Surfaces may be extremely hot.
- Allow oven to cool: Let the oven cool completely. Try clearing the code by turning power off for 5 minutes, then back on. If F2 reappears when heating, continue.
- Check oven sensor resistance: Remove the rear panel or access from inside the oven (rear wall). Locate the oven temperature sensor probe. Disconnect its harness and measure resistance with a multimeter at room temperature. A typical sensor should read about 1080–1100 Ω at 70°F (21°C). If reading is far off or open/shorted, replace the sensor.
- Inspect sensor wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the control board. Look for burnt, pinched, or melted insulation. Repair or replace damaged wiring and ensure connectors are tight.
- Check for stuck relay: If the oven continues heating even when turned off, the bake or broil relay on the EOC may be welded closed. In this case, replace the electronic oven control board.
If you smell burning insulation or see signs of overheating around the control, discontinue use and call a professional.
