Possible Causes
Control lock feature engaged, stuck lock button, user interface misoperation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety note: This is a control feature, not a hardware failure. No disassembly is required.
- Disable control lock: On most American Range electronic models, press and hold the LOCK or CONTROL LOCK key for 3–5 seconds until the LOC indicator disappears. If there is no dedicated lock key, press and hold START or a combination such as BAKE + BROIL as indicated in your user manual.
- Power reset: If the lock indicator will not clear, turn off power at the breaker for 1 minute, then restore and try the lock sequence again.
- Check for stuck key: If the panel still shows LOC and keys do not respond, a stuck or failed keypad may be present. In that case, the touchpad/keypad assembly may need replacement.
Refer to the specific model's user guide for the exact control lock sequence.
