Possible Causes
Failed spark module, defective burner switch, no power to ignition circuit, broken igniter wire
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the range and shut off gas if removing top components. Avoid open flames while troubleshooting.
- Check power: Ensure the range is plugged in and the outlet has power. The igniters require electricity to spark.
- Test other burners: Turn other burner knobs to LITE. If none of the burners spark, suspect the spark module or power supply. If some spark and others do not, the issue is localized.
- Inspect igniter wires: Remove the cooktop grates and burner caps. Lift the top (if hinged) to access igniter wires. Look for disconnected or broken wires leading to the spark electrodes.
- Check burner switches: Each knob has a burner switch that signals the spark module. If only one burner fails to spark, test that switch for continuity when turned to LITE and replace if open.
- Replace spark module: If no burners spark and power is present, replace the spark ignition module.
Do not operate the cooktop with exposed wiring or missing burner parts.
