Possible Causes
Food or grease spilled on hot components, New appliance protective oils burning off, Overheating wiring or components, Blocked cooling airflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If you see flames or heavy smoke, turn off power and gas immediately and ventilate the area. Do not open the oven door if there is a fire inside; keep it closed and turn off the appliance.
- Initial use: For new units, run the cooktop and oven at medium-high settings for 30–60 minutes with good ventilation to burn off manufacturing residues.
- Clean spills: Once cool, clean any food or grease from the cooktop surface, burner bowls, and oven cavity.
- Inspect wiring: If the smell is electrical (sharp, acrid) and persists, disconnect power and inspect internal wiring and boards for overheating or burn marks.
- Check ventilation: Ensure cooling vents are not blocked and that the cooling fan (if equipped) is operating.
Persistent burning smells without visible spills should be investigated by a qualified technician.
