Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor, Misaligned door latch, Broken latch switch, Wiring fault between latch and control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker. Ensure the oven is cool before working on the door or latch.
- Check door closure: Make sure the door closes fully and is not obstructed by racks or debris.
- Inspect latch: Open the door and examine the latch mechanism on the oven frame and the strike on the door for bending or damage. Realign if necessary.
- Access lock motor: Remove the top panel or rear panel (depending on model) to access the door lock motor assembly. Check the wiring harness and connectors.
- Test lock operation: With power restored (only if you are qualified), start a self-clean cycle and observe whether the lock motor attempts to move. If it does not, or if the switches do not change state, replace the door lock assembly.
Never force the door open during a self-clean cycle; this can damage the lock and door.
