Possible Causes
Failed limiter thermostat on radiant element, Open limiter wiring, Faulty cooktop control board output
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the cooktop to cool.
- Access element: Lift the glass top (after removing mounting screws) to access the radiant elements and limiters.
- Inspect limiter: Each radiant element has a small limiter device attached. Check for burned or broken terminals and loose wires.
- Check continuity (advanced): Using a multimeter, test the limiter for continuity. An open limiter will prevent the element from heating and should be replaced.
- Replace limiter or element: If the limiter is not available separately or is physically integrated, replace the entire radiant element assembly.
Handle the glass top carefully to avoid cracking; support it while working underneath.
