Possible Causes
Clogged burner ports, Misaligned burner cap, Cracked or contaminated spark electrode, Poor ground contact between burner and chassis
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the burner and allow all parts to cool. Shut off gas if you will be disassembling burners.
- Clean burner: Remove the burner cap and head. Clean all ports with a soft brush and a wooden toothpick. Do not enlarge the holes.
- Check cap alignment: Reinstall the burner head and cap, ensuring they sit flat and properly aligned with the locating pins.
- Inspect electrode: Examine the spark electrode near the burner for cracks, heavy buildup, or moisture. Clean gently with a non-abrasive pad and dry thoroughly.
- Test ignition: Restore gas and power, then test the burner. If it still will not light but you see a spark, the gas flow through the orifice may be restricted and the orifice may need cleaning or replacement by a technician.
Never use metal objects to clear gas orifices; this can damage them and alter flame characteristics.
