Possible Causes

Grease buildup around knob shafts, Cracked knob hubs, Worn gas valve stems or infinite switch shafts

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off burners and allow them to cool. For gas valves, do not spray cleaners directly into valve stems.

  • Remove knobs: Pull knobs straight off the shafts.
  • Clean area: Wipe grease and debris from around the shafts and panel with a mild cleaner on a cloth.
  • Inspect knobs: Check for cracks or stripped inserts. Replace damaged control knobs.
  • Valve/switch condition: If knobs remain stiff or wobbly after cleaning and knob replacement, the underlying gas valve or infinite switch may be worn and should be replaced.
