Possible Causes
Failed spark module, Disconnected or broken igniter wires, No power to ignition system, Faulty ignition switch in burner knob
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off gas supply at the shutoff valve and disconnect power before servicing. Avoid open flames.
- Check power: Confirm the cooktop is plugged in and the outlet has power. Test with another appliance.
- Listen for clicking: With gas off but power on, turn a burner knob to the ignite position. If there is no clicking at any burner, the spark module may not be powered or is faulty.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the cooktop from the counter if needed and lift the top. Inspect the spark module and igniter wires for loose connections or damage. Reseat all connectors.
- Test individual igniters: If some burners spark and others do not, swap igniter wires at the module to see if the problem follows the wire or stays with the burner. Replace the surface burner igniter if the problem stays with the burner, or the spark module if it follows the module output.
- Replace faulty parts: Replace the spark module if no burners spark and power is present. Replace faulty ignition switches in the burner knobs if they do not send power to the module.
