Possible Causes

Shorted touchpad membrane on control panel, Failed electronic oven control board (EOC), Moisture or grease contamination on keypad ribbon connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the range from power at the breaker before removing any panels. Do not work on live circuits.

  • Power reset: Turn the range off at the breaker for 5–10 minutes, then restore power. If F1 returns immediately without pressing any keys, the control or keypad is likely faulty.
  • Check for stuck keys: With power off, wipe the control panel with a slightly damp cloth and then dry thoroughly. Look for any keys that feel stuck or do not click properly. If a key is physically stuck, gently work it free and test again.
  • Inspect keypad ribbon: Remove the back panel behind the control. Locate the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the EOC. Disconnect and inspect for corrosion, burnt spots, or moisture. Clean the connector with electronic contact cleaner, let dry, reconnect firmly, and test.
  • Isolate keypad vs. board: If possible on your Avanti model, disconnect the keypad ribbon from the EOC, restore power, and see if F1 appears. If F1 appears with keypad disconnected, the EOC is bad. If F1 only appears when keypad is connected, the keypad/touch panel is bad.
  • Replace faulty component: If tests point to the keypad, replace the control panel / touchpad assembly. If tests point to the board, replace the electronic oven control (EOC). Transfer wires one at a time from old to new board to avoid miswiring.

If you are not comfortable working around live 240 V wiring, contact a qualified appliance technician.
