Possible Causes

Failed door lock motor assembly, Faulty door latch switch, Misaligned door latch mechanism, Broken or disconnected lock wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker. Do not attempt to force the door open if it is locked; you may bend the latch.

  • Check door alignment: Inspect the oven door for sagging or misalignment. Ensure it closes squarely and the latch engages smoothly. Adjust hinges if visibly misaligned.
  • Access lock assembly: Remove the rear panel or top panel (depending on Avanti model) to access the door lock motor and latch assembly.
  • Inspect wiring and switches: Look for loose connectors, broken wires, or burnt spots on the lock motor and latch switch. Reseat connectors and repair damaged wiring.
  • Manual latch test: With power off, manually move the lock arm to the locked and unlocked positions. You should hear the latch switch click. If the switch does not click or feels loose, the lock assembly is likely faulty.
  • Replace lock assembly: If the motor does not run during a self-clean or lock cycle, or the switch does not change state, replace the door lock motor and latch assembly.

After replacement, restore power and test a lock/unlock cycle (or self-clean if applicable) to confirm proper operation and that F5 is cleared.
