Possible Causes
Shorted touchpad membrane, Moisture or liquid intrusion into control panel, Damaged keypad ribbon cable, Failed keypad interface on EOC
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control panel or touching internal wiring.
- Dry and clean panel: If the error appeared after a spill or heavy cleaning, leave power off and allow the control panel to dry for several hours. Wipe gently with a dry cloth.
- Inspect keypad ribbon: Remove the back cover behind the control. Locate the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the EOC. Disconnect, inspect for corrosion or damage, clean with contact cleaner, and reconnect firmly.
- Check for physical damage: Look for cracks in the glass or plastic overlay, or keys that are sunken or bulging. Physical damage usually requires keypad replacement.
- Replace keypad or control: On some Avanti models, the keypad and EOC are a single assembly; on others, they are separate. Replace the touchpad / control panel assembly if only the keypad is bad, or the EOC if the keypad is integrated or the board is faulty.
After replacement, restore power and verify that all keys respond correctly and the F7 error does not reappear.
