Induction cooktop zone shows F40 and does not heat
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the cooktop from mains. Induction modules store high voltage; allow several minutes for capacitors to discharge.
- Remove cookware and objects: Ensure no metal objects are stuck under the glass or bridging zones.
- Visual inspection: Remove the cooktop from the worktop and take off the bottom cover. Inspect the affected zone's power module for burnt components.
- Check induction coil: Measure resistance of the coil; it should be low but not shorted to ground. Replace the coil if it is shorted to the chassis.
- Replace power module: If the IGBT or other components are visibly damaged, replace the entire induction power module for that zone.
Warning: Induction electronics involve high-frequency, high-voltage circuits. Board-level repair is not recommended for non-professionals.
