Possible Causes
Worn or burned function selector switch contacts, Broken selector knob shaft, Loose wiring on selector switch, Melted switch body due to overheating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the range from mains power.
- Check knob and feel: Turn the function knob through all positions. If it feels loose, rough, or does not click, the switch may be damaged.
- Access switch: Remove the front control panel to access the function selector switch.
- Inspect contacts: Look for burnt or melted areas on the switch. Check that all spade connectors are tight.
- Test continuity: Using the wiring diagram, test the switch positions with a multimeter. Replace the selector switch if contacts do not close as specified.
Warning: Incorrect wiring of the new switch can cause dangerous operation; label wires before removal.
