Possible Causes
Open-circuit induction coil, failed IGBT or driver on power module, burnt wiring to coil, cracked solder joints on module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate from mains and wait for capacitors to discharge. High voltages are present inside even after switching off.
- Access coil: Remove the hob from the worktop and take off the bottom cover. Identify the coil corresponding to the faulty zone.
- Check wiring: Inspect the coil leads and connectors for burning or loose connections. Reseat any push-on connectors.
- Test coil continuity: Use a multimeter to measure resistance across the coil terminals. A very high or infinite reading indicates a broken coil that must be replaced.
- Inspect power module: Look for obvious damage (burnt components, cracked board). If present, replace the power module with the correct Belling part.
