Possible Causes

Failed top oven temperature sensor, damaged sensor harness, corroded sensor connector, faulty secondary oven control PCB input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Isolate the cooker from mains power before removing any panels. Use insulated tools and avoid touching live terminals.

  • Confirm which cavity: Select the top/secondary oven only. If F2 appears when this oven is selected, the fault is associated with that cavity.
  • Access the sensor: Remove the rear cover. Identify the top oven sensor (similar metal probe entering the upper cavity). Disconnect its two-wire plug.
  • Test the sensor: With a multimeter set to resistance, measure across the sensor terminals. Compare to the main oven sensor value at room temperature. A reading far outside the expected range, open circuit, or short indicates a bad sensor.
  • Inspect harness and connectors: Check for heat damage near the top oven area, as insulation can become brittle. Clean any oxidised spade terminals and ensure a tight fit.
  • Replace sensor: If readings are incorrect, remove the sensor from inside the cavity (usually one screw bracket). Fit a genuine or compatible Belling top oven sensor and reconnect.
  • Control board check: If the sensor and wiring are sound, the top oven control circuit on the PCB may be defective. Replacement of the PCB should be carried out by a professional due to mains wiring complexity.
