Oven Lamp or Lamp Holder Failure
Oven light not working but oven heats normally
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Blown oven bulb, heat-damaged lamp glass cover, corroded lamp holder contacts, faulty light switch on control panel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate power and allow the oven to cool. Use only oven-rated bulbs.
- Replace bulb: Unscrew the glass lamp cover inside the oven (use a cloth for grip). Remove the old bulb and fit a new high-temperature oven bulb of the correct wattage and cap type.
- Check holder: If the new bulb does not work, inspect the lamp holder for corrosion or heat damage. Replace the holder if contacts are burnt.
- Switch and wiring: If the holder is good, test for voltage at the lamp when the light is switched on (only by a competent person). If no voltage, the light switch or wiring may be faulty and require further diagnosis.
