Belling
Contamination on Heating Elements or Insulation
Strong burning smell or smoke from oven on use

Possible Causes
Spilled food or grease on elements, new element protective coating burning off, insulation or wiring overheating due to loose connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: If you see heavy smoke or flames, switch off power immediately and keep the oven door closed. Allow to cool before inspection.
- Initial burn-off: For new ovens or recently replaced elements, run the oven empty at 200–220°C for 30–45 minutes with good ventilation to burn off manufacturing residues.
- Clean interior: Once cool, clean baked-on grease from the cavity and elements with a suitable oven cleaner (avoid spraying directly on fan motor or thermostat sensor).
- Inspect wiring: Remove rear panel and check for signs of overheating on connectors and wires. Tighten or replace any burnt terminals.
- Persistent smell: If the smell is electrical (sharp, acrid) rather than food-related, discontinue use and have the wiring and elements checked by a technician.
