Possible Causes
Open bake element, Open broil element, Burnt wiring to element terminals, Faulty relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before inspecting elements.
- Visual inspection: Look at the bake and broil elements for blisters, breaks, or burn marks. A visibly broken element must be replaced.
- Continuity test: Remove the rear panel or access from inside the oven to disconnect element terminals. Measure resistance across each element; an open reading indicates a failed element.
- Check wiring: Inspect wires and terminals for heat damage or loose connections. Repair or replace as needed.
- Control relay: If both elements test good, the control board may not be sending power. Test for voltage at the element terminals when the oven is turned on (only if you are trained to work with live circuits). Replace the control board if no output is present.
Warning: Never touch live terminals; if unsure, contact a professional.
