Surface Burner Ignition Failure
Gas cooktop burner will not ignite, clicking sound present but no flame

Possible Causes
Clogged burner ports, Misaligned burner cap, Weak or cracked spark electrode, No gas flow to that burner valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn all burner knobs to OFF and ensure the area is well ventilated. Avoid open flames while troubleshooting.
- Check burner cap alignment: Remove the burner cap and head, then reseat them properly on the base. Misalignment often prevents ignition.
- Clean burner ports: Use a soft brush or a wooden toothpick to clear any debris from the burner ports. Do not use metal objects that can enlarge the holes.
- Verify gas flow: Light the burner with a long match or lighter (if safe and permitted by the manual). If it lights manually but not with the igniter, the issue is with the ignition system. If it does not light at all, the valve or gas supply to that burner may be blocked.
- Inspect electrode: Check the ceramic spark electrode near the burner for cracks or heavy buildup. Clean gently with a non-abrasive pad. Replace if damaged.
- Check wiring: Ensure the electrode wire is firmly connected to the spark module and not damaged.
Warning: If you smell strong gas, stop immediately, turn off the gas supply, ventilate the area, and contact a professional.
