Possible Causes
Failed oven igniter (glow bar), No gas supply to oven safety valve, Faulty oven thermostat or control relay, Defective oven gas safety valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off gas at the shutoff valve and disconnect power before servicing. Allow the oven to cool.
- Check gas supply: Verify that other gas burners on the range operate normally. If not, address the household gas supply first.
- Observe igniter: With power restored and gas on, set the oven to bake and look through the burner view port. The glow bar igniter should glow bright orange within 30–60 seconds. If it does not glow, or glows weakly and the burner never lights, the igniter is likely faulty.
- Test igniter: Disconnect power, remove the oven bottom panel, and access the igniter. Check for cracks or damage. Measure resistance; an open igniter must be replaced.
- Replace igniter: Remove mounting screws, disconnect the wiring connector, and install a genuine Bertazzoni-compatible igniter. Avoid touching the new igniter element with bare fingers.
- Check safety valve: If a new igniter glows strongly but the burner does not light, the oven gas safety valve may be defective and should be tested and replaced by a qualified technician.
Warning: Never attempt to manually light a modern gas oven with a glow bar igniter; this can be extremely dangerous.
