Induction Acoustic Noise / Coil Vibration
Induction cooktop makes loud buzzing or humming noise at certain power levels
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Normal magnetostriction in cookware, Loose induction coil mounting, Resonance at specific frequencies, Warped pan bottom
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure cookware is stable and the surface is clean.
- Test different pans: Try another induction-compatible pan. Noise often depends on pan construction and is not a fault.
- Change power level: Adjust the power setting slightly up or down to move away from the resonant frequency causing the noise.
- Check coil mounting: If noise is unusually loud or metallic, disconnect power and inspect the induction coil mounting screws and insulation pads. Tighten or replace as needed.
- Pan base: Avoid very thin or warped pans, which tend to vibrate more.
Note: A low-level hum is normal for induction; only excessive or new noises require service.
