Possible Causes

Food or grease spilled on bake/broil elements, New oven protective oils burning off, Using incorrect cookware or liners that contact elements

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: If smoke is heavy, turn off the oven and ventilate the area. Do not leave the oven unattended.

  • Initial burn-in: For a new Blomberg range, run an empty bake cycle at 200–230°C (400–450°F) for 30–60 minutes to burn off manufacturing residues, following the manual.
  • Clean spills: Once cool, wipe the interior and elements gently with a damp cloth. Avoid spraying cleaner directly on elements.
  • Avoid foil on bottom: Do not line the oven bottom or racks with foil that can trap heat and cause burning.
  • Use drip trays: For greasy foods, use a tray to catch drips and prevent them from landing on elements.
