Possible Causes

Shorted oven temperature sensor, Failed electronic oven control (EOC) temperature circuit, Relay on control board stuck closed, Damaged sensor wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. Allow the oven to cool completely before removing any panels.

  • Visual inspection: Check inside the oven cavity for foil covering the sensor, blocked vents, or warped racks touching the sensor. Remove any obstructions.
  • Test oven temperature sensor: Locate the sensor probe at the rear of the oven cavity. With power off, disconnect its harness from behind the range or from the rear panel. Measure resistance with a multimeter: at room temperature (~70°F / 21°C) it should be around 1080–1100 Ω. If reading is far off or open/shorted, replace the sensor.
  • Inspect sensor wiring: Follow the harness from the sensor to the EOC. Look for burned insulation, pinched wires, or loose connectors. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
  • Control board evaluation: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the EOC’s temperature circuit or relay may be stuck. Replace the EOC with the correct BlueStar part number.
  • Recalibrate if needed: After repair, verify oven temperature with an oven thermometer and, if your model allows, perform a temperature calibration through the control settings.
