Possible Causes

Failed relay on EOC, Internal EOC logic error, Power surge damage, Loose neutral or line connection at control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker. Verify no voltage is present before touching wiring.

  • Power cycle: Turn off the breaker for 10 minutes to fully discharge the control. Restore power and check if F5 returns.
  • Inspect wiring to EOC: Remove the backguard or front panel to access the EOC. Check that all line (L1, L2), neutral, and ground connections are tight and not discolored or burned.
  • Check for visible damage: Look for burnt spots, cracked solder joints, or swollen components on the EOC. Any visible damage indicates the board should be replaced.
  • Replace EOC: If the error persists after power cycling and wiring checks, replace the EOC with the correct BlueStar part. Transfer wires one at a time to the new board, matching terminal labels.
  • Surge protection: Consider using a surge protector or whole‑home surge protection to prevent future control board failures.
