Possible Causes
Stuck keypad button, Shorted keypad membrane, Loose keypad ribbon cable, Failed keypad interface on EOC
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control panel.
- Check for physical sticking: Press each button on the keypad repeatedly to feel for any that are sticking or not returning properly. Clean the surface with a mild degreaser and a soft cloth.
- Inspect keypad ribbon: Remove the control panel trim to access the keypad ribbon cable. Disconnect and inspect for corrosion or contamination. Clean with isopropyl alcohol and reseat firmly.
- Test with ribbon disconnected: With power off, disconnect the keypad ribbon from the EOC. Restore power briefly. If F7 still appears, the EOC is faulty. If the error disappears, the keypad is defective.
- Replace faulty component: Replace the keypad/touch panel or EOC as indicated by the test. Ensure the replacement is the correct BlueStar part for your model.
- Reassemble and test: After reassembly, restore power and verify all keys respond correctly and the error code is cleared.
