Possible Causes
Delayed ignition in oven burner, Incorrect air shutter adjustment, Metal panel expansion, Burner misalignment
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If bangs are accompanied by strong gas odor or visible flame rollout, shut off gas and power and contact a professional.
- Identify source: Determine whether the noise comes from the oven burner area or from the cooktop surface burners.
- Check oven ignition: If the oven burner lights with a small "boom" after several seconds of gas flow, the igniter may be weak or the burner ports near the igniter may be clogged. Clean the burner and replace the igniter if needed.
- Adjust air shutter: Excess air or poor mixture can cause noisy ignition. Adjust the burner air shutter slightly and retest.
- Panel expansion: Some minor popping from metal expansion is normal, but loud, sharp bangs should be investigated. Ensure all mounting screws are tight and panels are not warped.
