Possible Causes
Clogged burner ports, Misaligned burner cap, Low gas pressure to manifold, Partially closed gas shutoff valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the burner knob. If you smell strong gas, shut off the gas supply, ventilate the area, and do not use open flames or electrical switches.
- Verify gas supply: Ensure the manual gas shutoff valve behind the range is fully open. Confirm other gas appliances are functioning normally.
- Clean burner: Remove the burner cap and head. Soak in warm soapy water and use a soft brush or wooden toothpick to clear each port. Do not enlarge the holes.
- Dry and reassemble: Thoroughly dry all parts. Reinstall the burner head and cap, ensuring they sit flat and centered over the orifice.
- Test ignition: Turn the knob to ignite and observe. If the burner lights but flame is uneven, repeat cleaning. If no flame and no gas sound, contact a gas technician to check pressure and regulator.
