Possible Causes
Failed oven temperature sensor, Stuck relay on control board, Cooling fan failure (for electric), Blocked oven vents
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power immediately if the oven is overheating. Do not open the door if there is visible smoke; allow it to cool.
- Allow cooling: Let the oven cool completely, then restore power and see if F2 reappears.
- Test sensor: Measure the oven temperature sensor resistance at room temperature. Replace if out of specification.
- Check cooling fan (electric ranges): Run a bake cycle and listen for the internal cooling fan. If it does not run, test and replace the fan motor.
- Replace control board: If the sensor and fan are good but the oven overheats or F2 persists, the electronic oven control may have a stuck relay and should be replaced.
