Possible Causes
Shorted glass touch control panel, failed electronic range control (ERC), moisture intrusion on UI board, damaged ribbon cable between UI and main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the range OFF at the breaker and allow it to sit for at least 1 minute before touching any wiring. Do not work on a hot appliance.
- Power reset: Flip the range breaker OFF for 1–2 minutes, then back ON. If F1 clears and does not return, it may have been a transient glitch.
- Check for stuck keys: With power OFF, clean the glass touch panel with a soft cloth. Look for cracks, warping, or areas that feel spongy or constantly pressed.
- Inspect UI connections: Remove power. Pull the range forward and remove the rear control panel cover. Reseat the ribbon cable from the touch panel to the electronic range control (ERC) on Café models. Ensure connectors are fully seated and not corroded.
- Isolate keypad vs board: If the code reappears immediately after power-up and keys do not respond, the glass touch control is usually defective. If the display is erratic or segments missing, suspect the ERC/main control board.
- Replace faulty part: If cleaning and reseating cables do not help, replace the glass touch control panel. If F1 persists with a new panel, replace the electronic range control (ERC).
