Possible Causes

Aging oven temperature sensor, poor sensor connection at control board, control board miscalibration

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before testing components.

  • Check sensor resistance: Remove and test the oven temperature sensor at room temperature (~1080 Ω at 70°F). If it is significantly off, replace it.
  • Inspect connector: Clean and reseat the sensor connector at the control board. Light corrosion can cause intermittent readings.
  • Calibrate oven: Many Café ranges allow temperature calibration in the settings menu (e.g., +/- 35°F). Use an accurate oven thermometer and adjust if the oven is consistently off but no hardware fault is found.
  • Replace control: If the sensor is good and calibration does not hold, replace the electronic range control (ERC).
