Possible Causes
Blocked cooling vents, Failed NTC temperature sensor on coil, Faulty cooling fan, Overheating induction power board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the hob to cool completely and isolate at the mains before removing any panels.
User checks:
- Ensure there is adequate ventilation under the hob – check that cupboards are not packed tightly against the underside and that Caple‑specified clearances are respected.
- Clean any visible dust from ventilation slots around the hob using a vacuum with a soft brush attachment.
- Avoid running multiple zones at maximum power for long periods if the hob is installed above an oven that is also generating heat.
Technician checks:
- Remove the hob and inspect the cooling fan assembly – confirm it spins freely and runs when zones are active. Replace if seized or not powered.
- Check the NTC temperature sensor fixed to the induction coil or heat sink for correct resistance at room temperature and continuity back to the induction power board.
- Inspect the heat sink compound and mounting of power IGBTs/MOSFETs on the power board; poor thermal contact can cause E2.
- Clean dust from the fan and heat sinks to restore airflow.
If the fan and sensors test correctly but E2 persists, replace the affected induction power module.
