Possible Causes

Failed ERC temperature monitoring circuit, Shorted keypad causing false input, Faulty oven temperature sensor causing out-of-range readings, Intermittent wiring harness between sensor and ERC

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch OFF the range at the breaker before removing any panels. High voltage is present even when the oven is not heating.

  • Power cycle: Turn the breaker OFF for 5–10 minutes, then ON. If F1 returns immediately, continue with checks.
  • Check oven sensor resistance: Remove the rear panel (freestanding) or access panel (wall oven). Locate the oven temperature sensor probe at the back wall of the oven cavity and trace its wires to the connector. With power OFF, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature (~70°F / 21°C) it should read about 1080–1100 Ω. If it is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the sensor.
  • Inspect sensor wiring: Check the harness from the sensor to the ERC for pinched, burned, or broken wires. Repair or replace as needed.
  • Keypad test: If F1 appears when pressing certain keys, the keypad may be shorted. Reseat the keypad ribbon at the ERC. If still faulty, replace the keypad/control panel assembly.
  • Replace ERC: If the sensor and keypad test good and wiring is intact, the ERC is likely defective. Replace the electronic range control with the correct Dacor part number for your model.

Note: Runaway temperature conditions (oven overheating) are dangerous. If the oven heats uncontrollably, disconnect power immediately and do not use the appliance until repaired.
