Possible Causes
Open or shorted thermistor on glass surface, Broken harness from sensor to control, Sensor dislodged from proper mounting position, Failed control board input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the glass surface to cool completely before disassembly.
- Access sensors: Remove the cooktop from the counter and take off the bottom panel to locate the surface temperature sensors attached to the underside of the glass near each burner.
- Check mounting: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the glass in the correct position. Reattach with high-temperature adhesive or clips if it has come loose.
- Measure resistance: Test the suspect sensor with a multimeter at room temperature. Replace if open, shorted, or far from spec.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor leads to the control board, checking for pinched or burned wires. Repair as needed.
- Replace control board: If sensors and wiring are good, replace the cooktop control/power board.
