Possible Causes
Loose or damaged keypad ribbon cable, Corroded connector at ERC, Failed touchpad membrane, Faulty ERC interface circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power at the breaker before removing the control panel or touching internal wiring.
- Access control panel: Remove the trim and screws securing the front control panel. Carefully pull it forward to expose the keypad ribbon cable and ERC.
- Reseat ribbon cable: Unlock the ribbon connector latch on the ERC, remove the ribbon, inspect for cracks or corrosion, then reinsert fully and lock the latch.
- Inspect for moisture: Look for signs of steam or liquid intrusion around the control area. Allow the panel to dry thoroughly if moisture is present.
- Test keypad: Restore power and test all buttons. If F6 reappears or some keys do not respond, the keypad membrane is likely defective. Replace the control panel/keypad assembly.
- Replace ERC if needed: If a new keypad does not resolve F6, replace the ERC.
Handle the ribbon cable gently; creasing or bending sharply can permanently damage the conductors.
