Possible Causes
Membrane keypad shorted internally, Contamination (grease, cleaner) under touch panel, Damaged keypad ribbon cable, ERC misinterpreting key signals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control panel. Unintended heating can occur if keys are falsely detected.
- Clean keypad surface: Wipe the control panel with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid spraying cleaner directly on the panel; spray onto the cloth instead.
- Check for stuck keys: With power OFF, press each key several times to free any that may be stuck. Feel for keys that do not return properly.
- Inspect ribbon and connectors: Remove the control panel and inspect the keypad ribbon for cracks or burn marks. Reseat the ribbon at the ERC.
- Isolate keypad vs ERC: On some Dacor models, you can disconnect the keypad ribbon and power up. If F7 disappears with the keypad disconnected, the keypad is bad. If F7 persists, the ERC is suspect.
- Replace faulty part: Replace the keypad/control panel assembly first. If the issue remains, replace the ERC.
Do not leave the appliance powered if it is starting cycles by itself; disconnect power until repaired.
