Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working near the door lock. If the door is locked with food inside, allow the oven to cool fully before attempting to open.
- Check door alignment: Inspect the door hinges and strike plate. If the door sags or does not close evenly, adjust or replace hinges and ensure the strike engages the latch properly.
- Access lock assembly: Remove the top panel or control panel to reach the lock motor and linkage at the top of the oven.
- Inspect and clean: Remove grease and debris from the lock rod and latch. Ensure the rod moves freely by hand (with power OFF).
- Test lock motor and switch: Use a multimeter to check motor coil resistance and verify the lock switch changes state when the lock is moved. Replace the lock assembly if either component fails.
- Reset and test: After repair, restore power and run a short self-clean or lock test (if available) to confirm the door locks and unlocks without F9.
Do not force the door open; this can bend the frame and worsen alignment issues.
