Possible Causes
Clogged burner ports, Incorrect orifice for gas type (NG vs LP), Misadjusted air shutter, Low or high gas pressure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the burner and allow it to cool before disassembly. If you smell strong gas or see large yellow flames, shut off the gas supply and contact a professional.
- Clean burner: Remove burner cap and head. Clean all ports with a soft brush and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly.
- Check cap placement: Ensure the cap is correctly seated and not rocking.
- Verify gas type: Confirm the range is configured for your gas type (natural gas or LP). If recently converted or installed, verify the correct Dacor conversion kit and orifices were used.
- Adjust air shutter (if equipped): Some Dacor burners have adjustable air shutters near the orifice. Slightly open or close the shutter to achieve a stable blue flame. Refer to the service manual for proper adjustment.
- Gas pressure: If multiple burners show poor flame quality, have a licensed gas technician check supply pressure and regulator operation.
