Possible Causes
Cracked knob hubs, Grease buildup on valve stems, Bent valve shafts, Incorrect replacement knobs installed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off all burners and allow them to cool before working near the controls.
- Remove and clean: Pull the knobs straight off the shafts. Clean the knob bores and valve stems with mild detergent to remove grease.
- Inspect knobs: Check for cracks or rounding inside the knob where it fits the shaft. Replace any damaged knobs with Danby-approved parts.
- Check alignment: Reinstall knobs in the OFF position, ensuring they line up with the panel markings. If they do not, the valve stems may be bent or misaligned.
- Valve inspection (gas): If knobs remain stiff or misaligned, a technician should inspect and possibly replace the gas valves.
