Possible Causes
Failed cooling fan motor, Blocked fan intake or exhaust, Fan harness disconnected, Fan driver circuit failure on power board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the cooktop to cool before accessing internal components.
- Check airflow: Ensure cabinet vents around the cooktop are not blocked. Remove any items stored directly under the cooktop that may obstruct airflow.
- Inspect fan: Remove the cooktop from the counter and access the underside. Locate the cooling fan. Check for debris preventing the fan from spinning and clean as needed.
- Test fan motor: Spin the fan by hand; it should move freely. Measure resistance across the fan leads; an open circuit indicates a failed motor. Replace the fan assembly.
- Verify fan operation: After reassembly, run the cooktop and listen for the fan. If the fan does not run and E7 persists, the power board's fan driver may be defective and require replacement.
