Possible Causes

Shorted touchpad membrane, Failed electronic oven control board, Moisture or spill intrusion into control panel, Loose ribbon cable connection between keypad and control

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing any panels. Do not work on live circuits.

  • Power reset: Turn the range breaker OFF for 5 minutes, then back ON. If F1 returns immediately, the fault is likely permanent.
  • Check for moisture/spills: Inspect the control panel area on your Danby range for signs of liquid spills or steam damage. Allow the unit to dry for several hours with power disconnected, then restore power and test.
  • Inspect keypad ribbon: Remove the back panel behind the control (with power off). Locate the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the electronic oven control (EOC). Reseat the connector and ensure it is fully inserted and not corroded.
  • Isolate keypad vs. board: If possible, disconnect the keypad ribbon from the EOC, restore power briefly. If the F1 code stops with the keypad disconnected, the keypad/touch panel is defective. If F1 persists, the EOC is defective.
  • Replace faulty part: Order the correct Danby control panel/touchpad or EOC using the full model number from the rating plate. Transfer wires one at a time from old board to new to avoid miswiring.
