Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Failed electronic oven control board, Relay on control stuck closed, Incorrect sensor resistance due to wiring fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. The oven may be extremely hot; allow it to cool completely before inspection.
- Visual check: Inspect the oven cavity for foil covering the bottom, blocked vents, or using the broiler with door closed contrary to manual. Remove obstructions and test again.
- Check oven sensor: Locate the oven temperature sensor probe inside the oven (usually rear wall, upper area). With power off, remove the two mounting screws and gently pull the sensor forward to access the connector. Disconnect and measure resistance with a multimeter: at room temperature (~20–25°C), it should be around 1050–1100 Ω. If reading is far off or open/shorted, replace the sensor.
- Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the sensor to the control board for burns, cuts, or loose connectors. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Control board evaluation: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the EOC may be misreading temperature or keeping the bake/broil relays energized. Replace the electronic oven control board.
