Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor, Faulty door lock switch, Misaligned latch mechanism, Broken or loose wiring to lock assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. If the door is locked with food inside, do not force it open; wait for the oven to cool and power to be removed.
- Check door alignment: Ensure the oven door closes fully and evenly. Bent hinges or a warped door can prevent the lock from engaging. Adjust hinges or door as needed.
- Access lock assembly: Remove the top rear panel of the range to access the door lock motor and switches (on many Danby models). Inspect for broken plastic parts or disconnected rods.
- Test lock motor and switches: With a multimeter, check continuity of the lock switches and resistance of the lock motor according to the service manual values. Replace the lock assembly if readings are out of range.
- Inspect wiring: Verify the harness from the lock assembly to the control board is intact and firmly connected.
