Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor, Jammed latch mechanism, Faulty door lock switch feedback to control, Control board not sending unlock signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before attempting to unlock the door.
- Manual release: On many Danby ranges, you can access the door lock mechanism by removing the top rear panel. Look for a manual release lever or rod on the lock assembly and gently move it to unlock the door.
- Inspect latch: With the door open, check the latch hook on the door and the strike on the frame for bending or obstruction. Clean any baked-on debris that may prevent movement.
- Test lock motor: With power off, disconnect the lock motor and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor; replace the lock assembly.
- Control board check: If the lock assembly tests good, the EOC may not be driving the lock motor correctly. Replacement of the control board may be required.
