Possible Causes

Open-circuit temperature probe, Shorted probe, Loose probe connector at control board, Damaged probe wiring from heat

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing the rear of the oven.

  • Locate probe: Inside the oven cavity, find the temperature sensor (usually a thin metal rod at the rear or top). Remove its mounting screws.
  • Check wiring: Gently pull the sensor forward to access the connector. Inspect for heat damage or loose connections.
  • Measure resistance: With a multimeter, measure the sensor resistance at room temperature. Compare with De Dietrich specifications (commonly around 1 kΩ–1.1 kΩ at 20°C for some probes). An open or very low reading indicates a faulty sensor.

Repair: Replace the oven temperature sensor if readings are out of range. If the sensor is good, the control board input may be defective.
