Possible Causes
Weak or misaligned thermocouple, Dirty burner causing poor flame contact, Faulty gas valve magnet, Loose thermocouple connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off gas before working near the burner base.
- Hold knob longer: When lighting, press and hold the knob for 5–10 seconds to allow the thermocouple to heat fully.
- Clean burner: Ensure the flame is stable and directly heating the thermocouple tip. Clean the burner ports near the thermocouple.
- Check alignment: The thermocouple tip should be in the flame. Gently adjust its position if bent away.
- Inspect connection: Under the cooktop, check that the thermocouple is firmly connected to the gas valve.
Repair: Replace the thermocouple or gas valve assembly if the flame still goes out when the knob is released.
