Possible Causes
Grease buildup on elements, Food debris on oven floor or near fan, Faulty thermostat causing overheating, Insulation material exposed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off the oven and, if smoke is heavy, switch off power at the breaker. Open windows for ventilation.
- Inspect interior: Once cool, remove racks and check for heavy grease or spills on elements and oven surfaces.
- Clean thoroughly: Use an appropriate oven cleaner (non-caustic for catalytic liners) to remove grease. Avoid spraying directly on elements; wipe them gently.
- Test at low temperature: After cleaning, run the oven empty at 150–180°C and monitor for smells. Some odor is normal initially.
Repair: If burning smell persists or elements glow excessively bright, have a technician check the thermostat and wiring.
