Possible Causes
Wet or contaminated spark electrodes, Stuck ignition switch on one of the burner knobs, Shorted ignition wiring harness, Faulty ignition generator module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off gas supply and disconnect power to the cooktop.
- Dry electrodes: If the issue started after cleaning or a spill, remove burner caps and allow the area to dry completely. Use a dry cloth and gentle warm air if needed.
- Check knob switches: Under each control knob is a small switch that signals the ignition module. Remove the knobs and inspect for moisture or corrosion. Clean and dry the area.
- Isolate faulty switch: With power off, disconnect one switch at a time from the ignition harness, then restore power briefly to see if the clicking stops. The switch that, when disconnected, stops the clicking is likely faulty.
- Replace components: Replace the defective burner switch or ignition generator module if it continues to fire even with all switches open. Reassemble and test.
